Over the past decade, Americans watched in bafflement and rage as one institution after another – from Wall Street to Congress, the Catholic Church to corporate America, even Major League Baseball – imploded under the weight of corruption and incompetence. In the wake of the Fail Decade, Americans have historically low levels of trust in their institutions; the social contract between ordinary citizens and elites lies in tatters.
How did we get here? With "Twilight of the Elites," Christopher Hayes offers a radically novel answer. Since the 1960s, as the meritocracy elevated a more diverse group of men and women into power, they learned to embrace the accelerating inequality that had placed them near the very top. Their ascension heightened social distance and spawned a new American elite--one more prone to failure and corruption than any that came before it.
Why are there so many cups??
For all the Kool-Aid they drink by the gallons
I saw a discussion regarding the President's recent act of staying the deportation of certain illegal immigrants who meet the requirements set in the order. During the discussion, a video of Romney advocating for the active deportation of all illegal immigrants, disproving of amnesty and the provision of public education to illegal immigrants, and ultimately tagging all illigal immigrants as "burdens," and I feel that that msnbc should play that reel constantly - at every occasion or discussion it can because he will certainly lose that minority's vote. Also, there needs to be more discussion of what has DONE, instead of what he failed to do, because he has achieved a lot in the past three years, but the three main ones that have gotten any attention are 1) Bin Laden, 2) affordable care Act, and 3) Funding GM. He has done much more on a smaller scale that should be highlighted.
Truth of the matter, facts are irrelevant when motivated by a higher power...no compromise, everything is a crusade now, take no survivors, all means to an end. Now what I need to know, what is the end "they" are all after? No taxes on estates(Romney's game), no abortion ( christians, small c intentional), guns everywhere and everyone? I thought the dems were the Big tent folk. Not really. All dems what safety for everyone, I get that. But the amuricanvoters don't.Oh yea I forgot bigotry dressed as ombama.
Where was the sense of law and order when the cheap labor began and used the workers, abused the workers, and helped with a long term desire for Cheap Labor force ?
