Up w/ Chris Hayes is back! On Saturday's show we'll be talking about what terrorism looks like today, with a focus on white supremacist organizations in the wake of last Sunday's shooting at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin. We'll also discuss the presidential candidates' latest volleys over welfare reform. And we'll talk to the author of a damning new insider's account of the 2008 Wall Street bailout.
Joining Chris at 8am will be:
Ken Feinberg, former Special Master for TARP executive compensation and Special Master of the Federal September 11th Victim Compensation Fund of 2001. In 2010, Obama and BP appointed Feinberg to run the Gulf Coast Claims Facility, which administered pay claims for the BP oil spill.
Neil Barofsky (@neilbarofsky), former Special Inspector General in charge of oversight of TARP (Troubled Assets Relief Program) from 2008-2011. Author of "BailOut: An Inside Account of How Washington Abandoned Main Street While Rescuing Wall Street."
Rinku Sen, president and executive director of the Applied Research Center (ARC) and Publisher of Colorlines.com. Author of "The Accidental American: Immigration and Citizenship in the Age of Globalization."
John McWhorter, professor of linguistics and American studies at Columbia University, contributing editor at The New Republic and Daily News columnist.
Avik Roy (@aviksaroy), Member of Mitt Romney's Health Care Policy Advisory Group and senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute. Roy also writes The Apothecary, a Forbes blog on health-care and entitlement reform.
Jill Nelson, journalist and author of "Volunteer Slavery: My Authentic Negro Experience."

Let's face it. There is a very good chance that the presidential election will be stolen again this November.
The difference this time is that we can see it coming and might not be able to stop it.
I can't believe that republican Americans are really okay with all of this. I seriously doubt that the rest of us would allow this to happen to them if the shoe was on the other foot even if as we disagree on important issues.
So what happens to our country if this election is stolen? I thought maybe that would be something worth having a segment/discussion about.
I wrote to the Secretary of State in Ohio and insisted that he should resign for his role in this.
I saw that the Ohio county election boards are listed on that site so I may write to them too.
I have continued to say that the democrats will have to win by a big enough margin to overcome all of the blatant cheating the republicans are engaged in. I think someone could also do an article or piece about how other country's view America right now and how these actions of the republicans reflect on 'democracy' throughout the world because they are basically modeling that if your ideas and views are not popular to win elections in a democracy then you should cheat.
The country's goin' toward Obama.
So did I and reminded him that under the Constitution we are all equal under the law.
The Government is being put up for sale to the highest bidder, Republicans are fixing the election, if they succeed we will not longer be a Democratic Government but rather a Republican Regime.
Florida recount shutdown in 2000 and poll unpreparedness in 2004 Ohio and since 2009 the state-by-state voter suppression via election laws and reduced service and now the Democrats are catching on, a little bit? Do Dems even meet with each other over these things in the last 12 years, like the Republicans did and do? Now we should expect leadership and protection of rights from these people?
I was not prepared for the withdrawal from your show. I'm unable to watch it in broadcast and I come running here a little later each morning and start checking compulsively until segments are posted here. I spent the whole day thirteen days ago checking, checking, checking and not figuring it out. When I did figure it out I said disparaging things about the Olympics and competitive endeavor in general, and lost friends right and left. I just want you back like before, but I guess I'll have to wait a week before you all are back with two shows on the weekend. Don't do that again for four years, okay?
Paul Ryan, Mitt R. has picked his mirror image. Romney/Ryan's plan for America would leave it looking like a 1930's depression/dust bowl photo only in addition to the food line from lower paychecks for any worker you can add elderly, students , kids , everyone but the very top who will be drinking from a golden champagne glass on wall-street and in Palm Beach.
It is 7:23 AM CST and I wanted to thank you for the heads-up that Rachel Maddow would be on following commercials. Gave me plenty of time to change back to FOX.
What kind of degenerate admits they watch FOX Spin... aahhhh, I mean News?
The GOP turned the American PEOPLE into the UNITED SUCKERS OF AMERICA…
Every Republican in 2012 sounds like they’re auditioning for a spot on the FOX Spin Channel. And this bothers me, because I consider FOX News a FOREIGN THREAT! While all that over priced Homeland Security wasting our tax dollars on color-coded terror alerts, a real threat snuck in under the radar…
A foreign agent named Rupert Murdoch, who’s working for the Commie Chinese AND the Saudi Royals (Kingdom Holding Co.) who are now majority stockholders in Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp/FOX News got control of our broadcast media airwaves and USED IT AGAINST THE AMERICAN PEOPLE!
NOTE: (Murdoch married Chinese intelligence agent and built his new mansion in China in case he had to escape prosecution from all the Western nations he screwed over)
The FOX News/AM Radio Free Conservative propaganda machine is full of TRAITORS working for foreign special interests that want to “divide and conquer” the American PEOPLE for profit. PROPAGANDA on a scale not seen since Mussolini convinced the Italian PEOPLE a police state would assure the trains run on time.
Remember the COLD WAR? The United States broadcast programming through Radio Free Europe and Voice of America… OR what the Intelligence Community calls PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE!
“…The goal of psychological warfare is to change the behavior of countries and their populations. Normally, the intent is to WEAKEN the loyalty and confidence that PEOPLE have in their leaders’ polices . An attempt to INFLUENCE the attitudes of the PEOPLE living there…”
(“International Relations through Science Fiction”, edited
by Martin Greenburg and Joseph D. Olander)
NOW, can ANYONE who’s ever tried to hold a legitimate debate with someone who watches FOX News, tell me Murdoch didn’t perpetrate history’s most successful brainwashing of a target population? COME ON! FOX anchors and Limbaugh clones were taught all the textbook forms of bias persuasion that divided the nation and made Republican voters into traitorous FOOLS!
The propagandists on the FOX News channel’s “The Five” are the most awful tools I’ve ever heard. First of all, 4 out of “the Five” war mongering, chicken hawks appear to be young enough to have served their nation in Military service during the Bush/Cheney WARS… AND DIDN’T… all talk, right? Like Romney and his five pussies…. Ahhhh I mean sons… (lol)

Ezra klein is a dope. Look at all these liberals, like a deer in the headlights.
They all know when Ronmey wins, their TV shows will be canceled, I mean no one is watching now as it is.
If Romney wins then all you Conservative wackos will be targets in a Class War. Angry Concerned Citizens are going to chop you mofo's up and feed you to Gulf wildlife
Bovine-lee, there's a reason Ezra Klein is asked for his opinion and evaluations again and again. There's a reason you are not. Whether or not Ezra or Chris is 100% wrong in their respective outlooks; and, whether or not your outlook proves to be 100% right, you should still keep in mind that regardless of your total validation, no one at any time will ever ask for your opinion on any matter of substance. Even if you were to indoctrinate your own children and shield them from more thoughtful dogma than their father's, they would eventually sniff out your failings and seek a more credible source. My guess is they won't have to look very far.
Dude deals in propaganda and his own beliefs.
No one takes what ezar has to say with any seriousness what so ever.
Only the leftwingnuts like on MSLSD.
I thought my personal attack might prompt you to post something well-reasoned, or at least marginally coherent. I was hoping your brand of polemics could fill the vacuum left by Hitchens' sad passing, but your brand of ejaculation is really its own kind of death. I suggest you buy more guns and Cool-Aid than you already have. You'll need a bunker, provisions, and a personal armory to keep common sense (not to mention grammar, syntax, and spelling) at bay.
Ridicule aside, you should read Mike Lofgren's account of GOP politics. He was a long-time GOP operative that helped write the GOP playbook. Try Truthout.org and search Mike Lofgren. His piece will reveal how "low-information" voters like yourself can be counted on to vote against their own self-interest. "Low-information" is your party's word for you, not mine. Do you vote? Do you typically feel a sharp pain in your foot afterward? This is from predictably and routinely voting yourself in the foot because you've been spoon fed some tripe about god, country, and family values.
Ha, Mitt Romney is a moron, he was going down hard and allowed Cheney/Bush Neo-Cons make the VP decision for him. Think about this now… if that evil mofo Cheney say he worships Paul Ryan then Ryan must be some kind of Wisconsin anti-christ or something lol, jinnbad.blogspot.com
Wow, look at all the White Anglo Saxon Protestants supporting the silver spoon trust fund baby con men. Beep Beep Beep, it's like the Conservative wackos are shouting "death to America". The truth is economic terrorists like Mitt "Stiff" Romney have done MORE damage to the USA than any Middle Eastern fanatic scum
How'd they fit so many fools on to one ship?
More like how many fools can MSNBC put on the air at one time.
United Suckers of America = Mitt Romney 2012
wow...first off it seems the fox trolls are here in earnest...guess that is a tip o" the hat to you Chris if you got them here now you must be doing something right.
Watching live feed now and had to comment-
Governor Ultrasound( I don't resort to name-calling but in his case its sooo much fun, and he's earned the moniker) said "You built this...so others could have the opportunities as you"(paraphrasing as I have not had my coffee) Ok...can we break that down...does that not mean that when the next person builds on whatever they may want to build they did so because of the one before them?? Doesn't that mean they in fact did not "build" it by themselves?? I mean if he was trying to dig on the POTUS I think he failed...
Someone help me understand that comment.. also:
as a side note, a suggestion for the future if you will... I would have so loved to have a small screen in the corner to watch Rachel's expressions during this speech/announcement. I am sure they were hysterical and i could imagine something like her making a "hung by your tie" image or just the rolling of her eyes...it would have made this drab and pompous speech way more entertaining. Regardless of what the fox trolls said earlier people love you Rachel-I am one and glad to have caught you on lambchop's show..can not wait for the commentary when Ryan stops droning :)
Mitt Romney picks Paul Ryan the man who wants to kill Medicare as a lot of people know it. Get social security out of general funds! Get Congresses hands off the Post Office funds. Congress and the Senate are the problems that this Great country is facing. Why are they allowed to get insider trading and become rich!!!! They need to live within their means like every American does!!!! We have a household budget why can't they have one. Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney are not the right track.
ooh.. Ryan just said improve peoples lives...thought he was gonna do an Andrea slip lol
And here comes madcow, she fines it offencive that they are at a decommissioned battle ship.
Get a grip already my goodness.
Mitt Romney picks the battle ship Wisconsin for his pick of VP. An outrage for someone never ever served. Norfolk was my old duty station. A draft dodger Mitt Romney standing there being a hypocrite!!!!!! I proudly served my country and in the Navy for 20 years and I'm appalled!!!!!!!
It's true that Ryan cast all of those votes for Bush-era spending and big government. But it's worth noting that he survived those alignments while his colleagues did not. Make no mistake about it, Ryan is a powerhouse and the Republicans have formally doubled down on Tea Party extremism. Ryan's successive budget proposals are a litmus test similar to Norquist's no-tax pledge. I like this VP choice simply because it showcases the GOP vision with transparency in the form of documented proposals rather than dogmatic, electioneering platitudes. Ryan is now the ideological soul of the wooden cipher that is Mitt Romney. Their secret service codenames can be binary: The Zero and The One.
Interesting to note: The Ryan crowd are (Ayn) Randians who continue to operate under the silly, fictional specter of socialism. As I've opined before, fear is the conservative's currency (fear of change, difference, progress, science, sex, women, minorities, immigrants, accents, crime, cities, school, ad nauseam) and fear of socialism is still their shiniest coin. Yet these devout Randians don't embrace her dogmatic atheism. Why the lack of internal consistency? Why embrace all of her discredited economic ideas and dismiss her only credible, rational position?
The election question is how Independents view Ryan. The country generally doesn't like Ryan or the Ryan plan by a 2 to 1 margin. . Folks have allready passed judgement on the Ryan plan. It's a no go.
We can't go back in time. We can learn to conserve more. We can learn to be more efficient. We can simplify. We can learn to do more with much less. Americans waste about 25% of our resources and we use about 25% of the world's resources. We can literally do more with less. America is in a time of innovation to the future. We don't have a choice. The future may be brilliant. Find the way or blaze the trail ©. Gobama 2012!
Romney apparently wanted someone on the ticket whose popularity didn't outshine his own. Ha. Romney and Ryan are indeed peas in a pod. They're aw shucks animated sharks. Ryan is a smiling predator with an aw shucks cow lick ©. Sometimes sharks have cowlicks ©.
Since taxing corporations and their stockholders is double taxation, so is taxing their workforce. Which of couse makes no sense either.
Ok, I've waited the required 24 hours to see if I still think what I thought yesterday...and I do.
Maybe Michael Hastings, in his defense of Julian Assange [sp] forgot that he was a GUEST on UP...his continual 'talking over' the others at the table, verbally using this way of demanding to make his points without taking a breath or even a moment to listen to anyone else's opinions. I saw on a show earlier in the week where he was a bit better behaved...but it was liking trying to put the brakes on your grandma who has strong opinions that are not necessarily PC or even polite to discuss in public. She talks over every other conversation, talks louder when someone disagrees with her or tries to take the discussion to a more moderate level, whose attitude is that whomever disagrees with her is apparently ignorant or stupid, depending upon her mood.
This is what I saw in Hastings. and I didn't like it. I don't have a problem with his views, even though I thoroughly disagree with it, my problem is with his actions on UP. I had a difficult time not changing the channel, and I was already yelling at the tv. I am a Chris Hayes fan, and in AZ I am up at 5 a.m. or recording it, so I can watch the show, so I am not leaving UP because of this jerk. But he does need to be called out, not on his opinions, but how he handled himself on UP.
PS - it wasn't that he was rude, and he was, but it was in his way of blocking any other discussion but his own during the segment.
