RE: Julian Assange. I know Chris Hayes is a fan of Bloggingheads.tv and there is a GREAT blogginheads between Maureen Tkacik and Amanda Marcotte about this case. What it showed me was let's not forget the two women in this case and I totally buy their story rather then some international plot against Wikileaks through Julian Assange. Totally recommend Hayes and staff check out that Maureen Tkacik and Amanda Marcotte bloggingheads.
Richard Belzer?? Who is next Alferd E Neuman, Bullwinkle, Fred Flintstone.
No, you're next.
Richard Belzer was excellent -- Ho-lee You just don't like it when the Democrats have a spokesman who tells it like it is. You love it that Fox is always extremely Republican/Teaparty, but just can stand it that the Democrats are finally figuring how to fight back and play at the same rules you have for decades!
Belzer is a clown at best.
So...as I interpret your stance on recipients of government paychecks....anyone receiving a government paycheck is a TAKER. My question to you is, does this mentality extend to active duty and retired military service members as well? And how about the approximately 530,000 United States military service members that have lost their lives in WWI, WWII, Irag, & Afghanistan...are they considered TAKERS as well? Lastly, how do you categorize President Obama.....giver or taker?
Ronmey money comes from investments, Ryans money comes from work.
Hide his money in other countrys??? any proof there belzer?
Ronmey pays $$$$$ millons in tax every year.
you ask for proof from Richard Belzer like he is the only one laying this charge ... it's a well-known, indisputable fact
What facts? Care to share the facts with the rest of us.
It’s really annoying and I get tired of people who just say, “give me the facts,” BECAUSE they are just too lazy to do any research themselves. I’ve already taken the time to look into a lot of this stuff, but I don’t have it all memorized – I did not write a paper on it. I have a busy, work-filled life. You can read about things like Sankaty and Bradford Malt and Ann Romney and Bain funds in the Cayman Islands and appearing (then suddenly disappearing) Swiss bank accounts on tax returns and betting against the US dollar and Robert Maxwell and all of the money hidden in places like Bermuda, Ireland, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, Cayman Islands, etc etc etc etc, just as easily as I did and as easily as anyone else has ... if you really want to know what's what.
All garbage, there is no law against having bank accounts out side the USA.
Next Ronmey paid taxes on his money he made.
Now how about the over 8% unemployment for the past 42 months, the over 41 million people on food stamps, the over 12 million people out of work??
Obummer is in over his head, he has no clue how to grow the economy and it shows.
And again you have shown no facts links or anything to support your claims.
Just what ever the MSLSD talking heads tell.
I see Holy-Cow is a paid troll on this site. By the way, you do know that the majority of Ryan's wealth is from his wife's inheritance? There is no way a Congressman can gain the kind of wealth Ryan has based on his paycheck! You insults calling President Obama "Obummer" simply turn everyone off and make you look sohomoric at best.
Holy you have no idea whether Mitt has paid millions or not because you haven't seen his tax returns -- not even one full return. From the partial return, however, we do know as FACT that Romney has invested huge sums of money in Switzerland, the Cayman Islands and Burmuda. It's a fact and I for one don't consider it patriotic for a person who wants to head up this country and make tax decisions for the working joes in this country to invest and hide his money in foreign countries when that money could be used here to offset the deficit, create jobs and re-invest in American companies and products!
I have a question for you Holy Cow -- would you take the same stance if President Obama had invested in the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, Switzerland or Kenya?
Do you agree with the Republicans in Congress taking a pact to vote against every single effort of President Obama from the day he was sworn into office. Not sure how you can say he was ineffective when Republicans have obstructed every single effort to improve our economy. Facts? -- go check out the record number of filibusters by the Republicans during the past 3 years. Go check out the 100% No votes by Republicans during the past 3 years -- even against policies that they previously supported.
Lastly, do you really think that your pathetic, partisan blather on this site will change any of the readers' minds? If anything you energize us to go out and make sure as many people as possible vote anti-Republican!
Amen
A paid blogger LOL...
Next you had better go and check on the voting in the House and the Senate when it comes to Ohammerheads legislation.
In fact his last jobs bill did not receive 1 vote in the house not 1, that means even the democrats didn't like it.
Before I was a senior, I was and am a parent. I want Medicare available for my children and their children. I find the Republican position that as a senior I am safe and my medicare will not be touched insulting and shallow.
I agree
Yes, I completely agree to suggest to deny MEDICARE to those 55 or younger is criminal!
The just-quoted comment about medicare "not one dollar less for those who have and not one dollar more for those who don't" is an excellent summation of Republican "principle" throughout. The British used to call it "I'm all right, Jack. Screw you all!"
The Ryan Romney plan focuses on not changing Medicare for people under age 55. There are at least 6 ways people under age 55 are either now entitled to Medicare or eligible for it, including countless individuals who have been on Social Security Disability for 24 consecutive months. The Ryan plan is at best vaugue on how his "plan" does not change Medicare as we know it for people under age 55. You can look up the ways Medicare provides eligibility for categories of people at any age, including those under 65 and under age 55 on SSA's Public Web Site (SSA online). I write this in my capacity as a private citizen, and on my own time.
The statement just quoted on the air describing the Republican position as not one dollar less for those who have or one dollar more for those who don't perfectly describes current Republican thought. The British used to identify this as "I'm all right, Jack. Screw you all!" It is the opposite of what makes a culture.
I have 2 master's degrees (not that make me smarter than anyone else, used just as a point of reference, but your last half hour has made the Republican explanation on their Medicare program seem simple in comparison.
Can't you make it simple. The Republicans hate and have always hated Social Security and Medicare. They will do anything to get rid of it.
Your program is really falling into their hands. You have confused the issue so much that no one can understand the differences between the Democrat plan and the Republican plan. Confusion gives the Republicans the top position.
Please dumb it down. There are far too few wonks. Being a wonk, you are confusing me!
One of the bottom lines being pointed out here is that these Republicans are hypocrites - they want you to think that you should be against social safety nets because somehow they are only utilized by lazy people who do not want to work (not true), yet they, themselves have benefited from these very safety nets. They will say ANYthing to whoever they need to say it to get a vote. If they were to get in power, you would see what their true agendas are. Do you really want people who follow the teachings of Ayn Rand - people who really just cater to the ultra rich and care nothing about the rest of the country - the average wage earners (even though they want you to think they do) in charge of your future and your children's future?
TRAP has been paid back.......
Not the same for GM, that is the one costing the tax payer $$$$billions

Watching Paul Ryan it seems to me that he may have gotten flip-flop lessons from Romney and the fact that Ryan forgot that he asked for stimulas money then blamed it on his staff show things to come
Way too kind to call it flip flopping -- it is out and out lying!
Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney tout that the Ryan Plan does not change Medicare as we know it for people under age 55. There are ar least about a half dozen ways that people under age 55 are either now entitled to Medicare or eligible for this (you can look this up on SSA's Public Website, SSA Online). For example, people on SSA Disability for 24 consecutive months become entitled to Medicare (and that population includes people under age 55). Other catrgories of people under age 55 can include people with ASL, and people with chronic renal disease. I write this in my capacity as a private citizen.
Watching Ryan the last week I believe that he now taking flip-flop lessons from Romney. When he said he never took stimulas money until his letters asking for it were produced and then he blamed his staff for it shows events to come
Rick Santelli would eat you people for lunch.
His point is why should someone get a principle reduction on the home price just because they can't afford the payments, when the people who make their payments do not get this.
It is too bad that the liar Chris Hayes with a national TV program is as big a liar as Lyin' Ryan and Mitt the liar Romney! You fit well in their liars club. Grow up a bit and maybe you will find the truth one day. You comments on Medicare were nothing but discreditable lies.
“US justice goes after Bradley Manning and Julian Assange for exposing horrible acts in Iraq but ignores Bush Jr, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rove, Wolfowitz and the LIES that led to this unnecessary WAR!
Justice seems to have been corrupted sometime in the last 30 years in favor of a very few rich @$$holes. I remember that stiff Attorney General Eric Holder tried to deflect attention away from the Bush Crime Family and the Corporate Crime Wave and instead went after a bunch of 70+ year old Mafia bosses. What a coward… that‘s modern day LAW Enforcement… EASY TARGETS! ” Charlie Stunats

QUOTE OF THE DAY:
“When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross”
SINCLAIR LEWIS
Romney pays 13% OF WHAT? Nobody is asking this question, and how little is his AGI due to his tax dodges.
13% of 21 million.
Julian Ass-ange? you have to be kidding me. What a waste of time.
If he is not guilty then why is he hiding in the embassy?
Innocent people do not hide.
Why is Mittens hiding his tax returns?
He is not hiding anything, he has put out 2 years of tax returns, that's the Law.
Why don't you post your tax returns if it is so important to know what someone else makes.
My problem is I have a overwhelming hate for lying hypocrites. 30+ years I've had to listen to these Rove/Limbaugh mofo's tear apart my work and belief system. I've had it, dm's fight'n words NOW... you ain't dealing with your Daddy's Liberals, modern day Progressives are raging, man...
Ha, Mitt Romney made a courageous VP pick? COME ON!
Mitt Romney the pathological liar, spoiled silver spoon, trust fund baby and elitist social Darwinist. No one likes a liar so Mitt was going down hard and getting desperate. So the best plan Mitt the twit (and his merry band of campaign elves) could come up with was to allow the Cheney/Bush Neo-Cons make the VP decision for him. Think about this now… if that evil mofo Cheney says he worships at the feet of Paul Ryan… THEN Ryan must be some kind of Wisconsin Antichrist or something… lol. (jinnbad.blogspot.com)
Paul Ryan wants to be known as a responsible deficit cutter… of course Ryan also wants voters to conveniently forget he voted for Iraq War, Bush tax cuts, TARP, deregulation, Medicare Part iDiot and all the other Bush/Cheney spending that led to the outrageous debt in the first place. Ryan says he’s a good Catholic but the Catholic Bishops called the Ryan budget IMMORAL! (taking from poor Peter to pay rich PAUL, right?) Hey Paul Ryan… you can’t follow Ayn Rand and JESUS at the same time… (ya dumbass silver spoon mofo)
I’ll bet you $10,000 right now that Paul Ryan has his nose so far up the asses of Sheldon Adelson and the Koch Bros that he’s can smell the money in their wallets and at their beck & call(girl) lol
Paul Ryan hates government except when it for him and people like him. Paul Ryan has actually spent his entire life on the government dole. He got SSI survivor benefits until he was 18... THEN through his rich family (from government funded infrastructure projects & Defense Dept contracts) connections got his first government job and has been sucking off the government teat ever since. HOLY @!$%# what a @!$%#’n hypocrite. I can’t stand it!
That’s the dark, dirty secret Conservative wackos wants to keep from the American PEOPLE, They want to cut most Americans out of the government monies loop so there is MORE FOR THEMSELVES
With low grade thought processes like these I MUST QUESTION the judgment of Rep. Paul Ryan and FEAR any thought of both Ryan and Romney being anywhere NEAR the White House. Someone should save he elders at The Villages, FL today from Paul Ryan's BS.
I am somebody who wants a Class War cyberbitchslap2.blogspot.com
Obama could do one thing - by himself - without congress - which would assure his re-election. He won't do it. That thing is to order Geithner and DeMarco and the rest to immediately require principal reduction in all the various programs without the approval of the Lenders or the mortgage servicing companies. Please note that most foreclosure processes are being dragged out, have no time line, no actions. What are they waiting for? My house is worth less than half the remainder of the principal of the mortgage. My income now will not support this mortgage! Yet the lender keeps suggesting things I could do to somehow "get back on track". Supposedly at that time they will then consider some modification - but not reduction!
WHY? I believe they are waiting until October to slam the gavel down, putting 1 or 2 million people into seizure of property and actual foreclosure. By the date of the election, the economy and the casino called Wall St will be in the dump, Geithner will be expressing more disappointment and Obama will be out! Obama is absolutely naive about this - these guys HATE him. Bernanke, Geithner, Summers, Paulson - all of them HATE him and will be partying when he is gone.
That's what happens when buy a house you can't afford the payments on.
Why should you get any reduction when the people that make their house payments will not get the same deal as you?
Any reduction in the principle means the people that do get this deal will be making your house payments for you.
Get a part time job and pay your bills.
Congress and the President could also insist that banks lower the interest rate on credit cards to no less than 2% overwhat they are paying -- which just happens to be 0% -- yet they are charging the majority of us 29%! If these interest rates were reasonable more people could pay off their credit cards and in a much shorter period of time!
The best way to pay off your credit cards is to stop useing them.
Somebody, anybody tell Michael Hastings to try Decaf, he's not credible if all he does is talk over and yell over all the other guests. He is just as bad as the tea baggers. If you have to yell and talk over others, not let them express their opinion, you are, in all but the politics, a tea bagger, it's the tactic of the desperate and crazies.
WikiLeaks couldn't release anything they didn't have. They have formerly secret info because it was not properly managed by who the secrets belonged to. WikiLeaks is doing their job correctly & being persecuted & prosecuted for other people not doing theirs. His personal behaviour in Sweden is not persecution & must be prosecuted & is way more important than blaming him&WikiLeaks for other people's failures.
RE: Assange - Josh Barro does not help your program, give clarity or put up any well thought out ideas. It is easy to shout Power Point Bullets like - "It is a good thing for the Government to be able to keep secrets so they can do their jobs." But there is no help if what results is having to point out that Assange is NOT being charged for breaking State Secrets. Assange didn't release anything about our governing people doing their jobs. He didn't even release anything that threatened National Security. He embarrassed some people. Our secrecy has nothing to do with Assange. The press is supposed to UNCOVER LIES that the Government puts forth as truth. Barrow works for the exact kind of company which is NOT interested in truth. It has a stark point of view and his seat at your table contributes nothing to the discussion except a fake "alternate idea". It is self serving because - in Assange's situation - the connections between big business and government shills were brought out in the open. Business hates that and now the US Government is part of the Corporate effort to run everything for their own gain and not the country's security.
Not familiar with the specifics of the molestation accusations against Assange -- have to be curious why he's unwilling to be questioned by Swedish authorities in the matter. Whatever he did/didn't do is probably punishable by community service/counseling in Sweden and punishable by scarlet letter and execution here. We are, after all, unerringly true to our puritanical heritage.
But the U.S.'s reason for wanting Assange extradited and prosecuted, hasn't that silly national-security/espionage beef already been adjudicated 6-3 by the Supreme Court in the Pentagon Papers' decision?
to mr.Richard Belzer, good to hear you & hope to hear more from you on msnbc. You are a public voice for me & mine. Thank you & thanks to everyone who invites you to speak up for all of us.
I agree -- I would like to hear more from him -- it's so refreshing to have a Democrat who isn't afraid to say what they think. I am sick of "mealy mouthed" Dems like Ed Rendell and disappointingly, Mayor Booker. We have let the Republicans control the dialogue, airwave and ads because they have bullied and controlled the airwaves, while we sit back and "do the right thing." Well, we can't afford to do that any more -- I say we fight fire with fire and give them a taste of their own medicine.
Why didn't someone tell Michelle Goldberg that Assange offered to go to Sweden to be questioned *IF* they guaranteed that they would not then turn him over to the U.S. ... an offer that was emphatically turned down. That seems to answer any and all questions as to whether Sweden is acting in good faith and seeks only to answer the charges brought by the two woman.
Well, that and the fact that Assange stayed in Sweden for weeks after his initial questioning, that he offered to be questioned over video from Britain or in-person at the Swedish embassy, and that it is HIGHLY unusual for Sweden to release an Interpol Red Alert for someone wanted solely for questioning.
If it walks like a duck, looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it is a duck. Assange has seen what has happened to Manning, and has no desire to be "disappeared" in a U.S. military brig for years while awaiting a sham trial.
I wish Chris had done a bit more homework on this topic. :(
I hear that too about Assange's offer, but since when is somebody accused of rape get to set the terms of his arrest? Also Sweden can't promise that since the United States isn't trying to extradite and no government would offer it for future not-yet-known crimes. Also if Julian Assange is so worried about being extradited to the United States, why is he in the United Kingdom, since an extradition request from the United States to the United Kingdom would be complied with just as much as an extradition request to the Swedes.
The whole "extradition forever and always even though nobody is requesting he's extradition" stuff seems like a smoke screen and empty talking point.
