Over the past decade, Americans watched in bafflement and rage as one institution after another – from Wall Street to Congress, the Catholic Church to corporate America, even Major League Baseball – imploded under the weight of corruption and incompetence. In the wake of the Fail Decade, Americans have historically low levels of trust in their institutions; the social contract between ordinary citizens and elites lies in tatters.
How did we get here? With "Twilight of the Elites," Christopher Hayes offers a radically novel answer. Since the 1960s, as the meritocracy elevated a more diverse group of men and women into power, they learned to embrace the accelerating inequality that had placed them near the very top. Their ascension heightened social distance and spawned a new American elite--one more prone to failure and corruption than any that came before it.
John Kerry 124 Million , Pelosi 35 Million, Reid 10 Million in 10 years, Obama up to 19 Million and needs another 4 years to keep up with the rest of the democrats. Clinton 85 million, but they do care about the poor..ha ha ha....I remember so well Ted Kennedy, who said the same ol'same ol' for decades and never did anything....I think Obama learnd from him well....only by Ted the whole middle east wasn't up in flames...and the Egyp brotherhood didn't get millions...
and tell the guy from Esquire to cut his hair it looks to much uncombed like liberals are
Tanya Wells, how come the poverty stricken and the seniors are left out of the "modern?"
political conversation since Obama has been in office for 4 years almost.? odd don't you think you liberals...and the seniors? as much as John Reel draws a paycheck...when was the last time the seniors got a living cost increase? so what is he there for, Obama must not pay much mind to him or the other rich democrats....ha ha ha....just as long you all can sit infront of the camera and let it all hang out...one lie after another...
what has changed? the poverty stricken were in the olden days some of the brightest...so what has changed....we lived in Germany, poor as heck...our dad was caught in the russian zone and couldn't come home for quite sometime our Mom was a cleaning woman, we never went to Yale...but we all learned proffession..chemist, toolmaker , nurse....our Mom didn't have time to do homework with us...our teachers saw to it with stern methods that we brought the homework to school...and never missed unless we were really sick..so much for the whining crying panelist for poverty reform in schools....
If the policians couldn't talk about poverty what else could they do? The democratic party prides itself to be the party of the poor....and sees to it with it's handouts they stay poor from father to son and on and on...otherwise after so much talk about the poor from the democrats something would have changed by now, but not to anyone's suprise it didnt' otherwise they wouldn't vote democrat anymore....actually you should say the uneducated....equals poor ....so why not say the uneducated...the democratic party is for the uneducated...because they are the only ones who are dirt-poor...I am poor, but I have a small house with a brand new roof I can afford. a great garden and yard....a car that runs as well as a new one....and my kitchen is spotless... I am poor..we are poor...but we only have two children, and stayed together for decades , that's why we have a house and a yard and flowers and a garden and an above ground swim hole....and can afford to vote for the republicans....ha ha ha..the poor and the democrats what a joke..
